Sunday, Piggy and I went to the Shedd Aquarium. (Free all this week, Chicagoans!) Last night, I cooked lemon pepper tilapia - a household favorite - and all of a sudden, Pigs had a million questions on how fish got from the ocean to our dinner table. After about seven minutes of explanation, this is what she recited back to me:
“So, da fisherman gets the fish out the watah, right. Den it goes to a factory where they make it clean and pretty, like take da eyeballs out. Den it goes to the grocery store, like Whole Foo, and they put it in the freezer. Then we go to Whole Foo and get it and den you cook it and it turns into talapeema chicken-fish?! Wow, that’s too much.”
